Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle (LBS) is Baltimore’s progressive policy thinktank.
We are a dedicated group of Baltimore citizens who want to change the city through governmental policy action. Our purpose is to provide tangible, concrete solutions to Baltimore’s problems and to analyze the ways that external forces have contributed to the overall decline of our city.
The political structure of our city is extremely weak. This is reflected in not only our politicians, but the policies they produce. Those policies are often not in the interest of the citizens of Baltimore. Instead, a lot of our city’s major decisions are put into the hands of people with their own private financial interests at heart.

This can be seen through our city’s various urban renewal programs, development projects and business ventures. These are typically held by large corporate interests who, in the end, only exacerbate the unemployment ,poverty, violence and environmental degradation of our city.
We must begin to take ownership of our communities and to make our city government accountable the policies it produces.
We are dedicated to the complete social, economic, and political independence of Baltimore City.
